Snippett Zone – Slow and Steady

by Timothy Brady

Snippett, He, she, it is an amalgamation of a being who is all genders and genderless. Snippet thinks in short brief excerpts of thought and mind.

Snippett – the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. He, she, it lies at the pit of human fears and the summit of mankind’s knowledge. His, her’s, its knowledge is a unique place of numerical coordinates. It is an area which we call the Snippett Zone.

Slow and steady is an island.

In this time of concern and trepidation regarding the COVID-19 (CoronaVirius), a pending recession along with the upcoming 2020 election, many of us feel like our lives are totally out of control from events and forces over which we have zero influence. While we are a part of the global community, we are also islands of individuals. While we are seemingly powerless as to the events and direction of our nation and the world, we do have the power to control what happens on our individual islands.

How, you ask?

We can focus on our own lives and the lives of the people around us. Put our energy into being prepared through proactive, rather than reactive, actions that address our biggest concerns. Pool resources and talent with others within our sphere and community.

Keep it local.

Through family, friends, neighbors and even those locally with whom we are not familiar, focus on maintaining and expanding the local economy. This is done by looking at the resources and skills of everyone who lives within our local sphere. The medical facilities, the food producers, the stores and restaurants that provide products and services necessary to maintain our lives. We need to look to local manufacturing and service industries to keep us supplied with our needs. Banks and financial institutions to keep the cash flowing. Logistics providers to transport into our island what we need and transport outbound the products we produce to keep our micro-economy vibrant.

It’s the community!

By putting aside our differences and working together as a team. Having a singular focus of caring for one another through proactively working together to keep our local economy functioning and vibrant. As a community, we are capable of caring for ourselves. We have the skills, the talents, the strength in each of our communities to weather this perfect storm. We just need to come together as one island.

Long term consistency trumps short-term intensity

– Bruce Lee

Complaining and worrying about these worldly and national events will not make them go away. Proactive positive actions is what will bring on the light at the end of the tunnel.

  1. Very good post – practical advice, and the focus on what most people can deal with: just a few concentric circles, widening from the nuclear family to the neighborhood, the schools and churches, to the community and small town.
