Welcome back Stargazers!
We’re going to continue to dwell in the world of Jupiter, its influence in astrology and the myths that surround this gentle (?) giant of our solar system.
Myths of Jupiter: It’s often assumed that Jupiter (Roman) and Zeus (Greek) were essentially the same in stature, power and society’s daily life. But even though these two gods share similar roots as sky and storm gods, their perceived levels of importance differ dramatically.
In Roman mythology, Jupiter is the supreme deity, the absolute head of state, and the ultimate protector of the empire, its laws and military victories; whereas in Greek mythology, Zeus is often portrayed as a volatile ruler who still had to navigate around other powerful, sometimes rebellious gods.
But when in Rome … Jupiter ruled the heavens, governed justice, truth and moral order, and carried the thunderbolt as a symbol of cosmic authority. According to legend, Jupiter overthrew his father, Saturn, who had swallowed his children to prevent them from challenging his power. Jupiter’s survival and eventual triumph symbolized growth, liberation, and the pursuit of higher purpose. Temples dedicated to Jupiter were central to civic life in Rome, emphasizing his role as steward of community prosperity and order.
Jupiter and Astrology: In astrology, Jupiter is known as the “Great Benefic,” bringing ease and blessings where it appears in one’s birth chart. He’s also associated with higher learning, philosophy, travel, and spiritual growth and considered a planet of luck, generosity, and wisdom.
Jupiter encourages individuals to seek meaning, explore new ideas, and broaden their horizons, both mentally and spiritually. Jupiter embodies the union of mythological authority and astrological expansion; guiding individuals toward wisdom, optimism and meaningful exploration of life. However, the unrelenting power of Jupiter may lead to overindulgence or blind optimism in some birth charts.
Influence in the signs:

Taurus – wants the good life; a strong feeling of what they are worth attracts success. Good instincts for finances, the worth of products and investments. Attracts the most good fortune when they are charitable, generous but discriminating and patient. Should watch for overindulgence.
Gemini – Attracts the most good fortune when they use their wit and resourcefulness – sociable, curious and will put others at ease with friendliness. Believes that intelligence and knowledge are the keys to solving problems.
Cancer – They are savers and accumulate; sometimes even horde things. Attract the most good fortune when they are sympathetic and giving. Real estate and the food industry offer the best options for success.

Sagittarius – Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius and acts as the cosmic guide and patron planet for this sign. Emphasizing adventure, exploration, and rational inquiry, Jupiter grants those who have this planetary position in their birth chart a natural abundance of optimism, luck and faith.
Capricorn – Attracts significant good fortune when they organize and direct, plus conduct themselves with integrity and elevated ethics. Values the long term achievement, responsibility and manifestation.
Aquarius – When they are tolerant and fair, good fortune appears on their doorstep. Inventive, impartial and cooperative are other examples of how Jupiter impacts Aquarius. They value people and personal freedom the most of any in the zodiac.
Pisces – highlights mystical insight, compassion and spiritual sensitivity. Jupiter is the ancient ruling planet of Pisces and governed this planet for centuries before Neptune was discovered. Jupiter is very comfortable in Pisces – making it a place of natural strength.
Fun Fact for This Week: We celebrate the announcement of the crew members for Artemis III. They’ll be on a two-week mission in late 2027 to test critical rendezvous and docking maneuvers with new commercial lunar landers being built by SpaceX and Blue Origin. (This mission itself was originally envisioned as a moon landing.) Very exciting news will be forthcoming from NASA.
For the next few weeks, continue to look toward the heavens – did you witness a New Moon (June 14) and then do remember to celebrate the Summer Solstice (June 21) – when the Sun officially enters Cancer and makes that date the longest day of the year.
Happy Stargazing until next time!
Yours in the Stars,
Astrid
