When your life’s on ‘hold’ and your thoughts are either blank or meandering, regard stalemate as an alert.
You’ve got to do something creative immediately. Think of it as ER for your mind.
Our artist-in-residence/retro hippie here at Write Up The Road, namely A.R. Tist, and yours truly have been having these desultory convos in the halls. And our lives and ambitions haven’t really been that different. While neither of us has yet achieved all of our goals, we’ve both traveled through the 48 contiguous states, met scads of people and enjoyed some outstanding moments in our lives.
And most if not all of those outstanding moments involved a finished creative project.
So collectively, Tist and I urge you to put down that coma-inducing phone, close the refrigerator door firmly and go forth and make something. Check the transiting Moon sign and if it’s in Taurus or Libra, indulge in beauty. Go to an art museum or browse one online. If the Moon’s in a Fire Sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), get physically involved. Swing a hammer, pound in nails. Make a bird feeder, a picture frame, another bookcase for more books. Moon in a Water Sign? Write poetry, no matter how bad it’ll seem next week. (Just don’t send it to our Poetry Editor, Randy Stark. If it’s about cats, send it to the Freditor.) Pour out your emotions and set them free! Earth signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn may want to re-work the raised garden and put that transiting Moon to good effect. And not to forget the Air Signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – listen to music. Sing. Read another astrologer, like Astrid. Declaim that speech about something that stirs you deeply to your cat or dog.
But get those wheels turning and do something out of the ordinary, just for yourself. Go groove, baby. – MZ
