A letter

Sometimes a letter or two becomes quite important to developments far in the future. Carl Jung’s interest in astrology (he studied it for fifty years) is often mentioned as part of the reasons he and Sigmund Freud abruptly went in different directions in their professional careers.

In a letter to Freud in June, 1911, Jung commented, “My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth. … I dare say that we shall one day discover in astrology a good deal of knowledge that has been intuitively projected into the heavens.”

And with a Full Moon in Aries occurring today, your favorite ancient astrologer hastens to remind you to ‘stay cool,’ don’t provoke arguments or sneer at authority figures, and mind that your own temper is kept in check. After all, the Moon rules emotions; Aries is a Fire Sign (and we all know what tempers the Fire Signs have), and in today’s odd and very charged environment, it’s hard to predict what reaction might match your action.

So if someone wants to know why you’re not choosing sides in the middle of a heated argument, simply say, “No less an authority than Carl Jung felt astrological knowledge could be used to determine psychological truth and smooth relations between humans. I’m simply following his lead.” There’s your exit line.

Easier to sidestep a battle during an overheated Moon (and the egos involved in the fracas) and wend your way to a quieter place. Peace to you. MZ
