Jupiter retrograde

Wikipedia

Does a Retrograde Jupiter mean you’ll be penniless during this transit? (Also, if you were born with a Retrograde Jupiter, will you ever have any money at all, no matter how hard you work?)

The easy answer to both these questions is, of course, “No.” The full answer to these questions is, “No, but –” . There are always the cautions; no guarantees and no absolutes in anyone’s chart or during any cycle. So relax. The world isn’t likely to stop turning during Jupiter’s apparent reversal the next five or six weeks, even if you’re an Aries or a Pisces. We’ll look at some of the effects you may want to watch for, so they don’t take you by surprise. Go get a cuppa and then start reading.

Jupiter, called the Benevolent Planet, ruler of philosophy, higher aspirations, spirituality, is also a practical planet that can indicate how finances affect your life. It encourages sharing, generosity and goodwill. (Examining the planet’s position in your Natal Chart will show how it may interact with your Sun and point out whether your natural tendency is to be a cheese-paring miser or a high-roller tossing hundreds of dollars at the newest gamble or even an infatuation.) For now, we can touch on the highlights of Jupiter’s retrograde course.

Currently, Jupiter is retrograde in Aries, retreating through that Fire Sign until it backs into Water Sign Pisces on October 27. It will remain in Pisces until it turns direct again, on November 23, 2022, the day before Thanksgiving in the US. And it takes a while to regain the degrees it had previously completed, not entering Aries again until just before Christmas, on December 21, 2022.

This pattern indicates to me that these two holidays may be a lot more expensive than we’d all anticipated, whether it’s the travel, the feasting or extravagant gifts. With another recession potentially lurking, I’d like to suggest a little caution in your holiday spending this year. Don’t max out the credit cards, and stash any bonus or monetary gift in a safe place until 2023. Hopefully in the new year we can see a little more clearly as to what may await us.

Aries: March 21-April 19

Those pesky bills. Always popping up when there are so many other fun things on which to spend the money. Aries, you may find you’d overlooked a payment or it was scheduled to increase. Check your budget and then there won’t be unpleasant surprises. And see if the family might enjoy one big gift this year instead of many smaller ones; a billiard table perhaps, new outdoor grill or an even bigger TV.

Taurus: April 20-May 20

Retrograde Jupiter goes from your Twelfth House of secrets to your Eleventh House of friends, so you may have to quietly rescue a friend or relative who lost a job or their home. As a practical Taurus, you’ll likely sit down with the distraught one and help write a new resumé for a better position, or find a less expensive apartment. You’ll loan them the damage deposit or your second car if needed.

Gemini: May 21-June 21

Not for Gemini a ‘quiet quitting.’ You’ll march into Human Resources and let them know just how underappreciated you feel and how underpaid you are. This is a huge gamble. Depending on your field, you’ll be shown the door and told to pack your belongings, or told to calm down and state your issues plainly. You may have repressed feelings which just boiled over. Or your foot is wedged in your mouth. Consider the consequences.

Cancer: June 22-July 22

A Moonchild yields to vibes and impressions frequently; sometimes your interpretation is a little off the mark. Ask for some personal time off at work, or a time out at home. Go someplace quiet and gather your thoughts. You may be doing this frequently until Jupiter goes direct, because the lingering Fire Sign/Aries effects disrupt your thinking.

Leo: July 23-August 22

Revisit meditation practices or start searching for a new spiritual home at the end of this transit. It’s hard for anyone to feel adrift or bereft of guidance, and retrograde periods can magnify those negative currents. Ask yourself if you want to return to your religious roots, or find a totally new path. Pay attention to your intuition and avoid people who irritate you or don’t understand the need for an anchor in life.

Virgo: August 23-September 22

The upcoming holidays may be a little harder this year, Virgo, especially if you’ve lost loved ones in recent years. You may be finding fault with yourself, questioning whether you’re forgetting that familiar face from the past, or not remembering bits of family history. Sorrow and grief have their own timetables, and they’re usually different for each person. Try talking to a trusted friend or start a journal.

Libra: September 23-October 22

Is this the time when you leave your most intense relationship? Are you sure this is the best course, or have you made a final decision without consulting both your heart and your head? If you’re unhappy in love, then yes, it’s time for a change. But reconsider whether it needs to be such a drastic change or if there’s a good foundation that could be built up into something so much better.

Scorpio: October 23-November 21

Just when you think you’ve got the kids calmed down, things blow up at work. Remind yourself you’re a Scorpio; you weather hurricanes and earthquakes with aplomb. Take the kids and your laptop to the park and let the young ones run amok while you do a little internet job-hopping. Maybe working from home wasn’t the best idea for you. Look into starting your own business and decide whether 80-hour weeks are feasible.

Sagittarius: November 22-December 21

If you impulsively moved in together, this may be the transit when you both wish you hadn’t. Sit down together for a heart to heart and decide just how much ‘me time’ and breathing space each of you needs. Are you spending too much time with friends and not enough with your soul mate? Or are you in each other’s faces for too many hours a day? Check into a hotel – alone – for the weekend and really think things through.

Capricorn: December 22-January 19

Your remodeling project may stall for a while when you find the cost of those renovations has gone up substantially. Would you be better off scaling back, or can you do more of the basic preparation work and hire the experts only for the intricate or licensed operations; new wiring for the kitchen or adding a third bath? If you’re the contractor on the job, you can delay meeting wants and ensure genuine needs are met.

Aquarius: January 20-February 18

A lot of community involvement is possible until after Thanksgiving. Then you may need to make a scaled-down list of gifts to purchase or create before the major holiday comes around. You have many acquaintances but actually few intimate friends. Frankly, every person within your usual social orbit doesn’t need a personal remembrance from you. Bake cookies and have an open house.

Pisces: February 19-March 20

This time of year is often difficult for you; it seems there’s always too much to do and not enough time or money to do what you would really like to do. You may feel the same stress, at least initially. But you can change that annual fit of the blues by trying different ways to celebrate. Take a friend to lunch and use your Pisces intuition to really listen to what’s going on. Get the family elders together to identify those old photos. Meditate.

If the stores are too crowded, take a friend ice skating instead of giving them a sweater. Save your stamps and call your mother, grandmother, aunts and cousins. – MZ
