Just like the ’60s and ’70s was my generation’s time to work on change, it is now today’s students’ time to start molding the world in which they want to live.
While I do accept the need for the second amendment, there’s a reason that it’s the second and not the 1st. The 1st Amendment trumps (pun intended) all others. Our freedom of speech, press, the right of assembly to protest and sound our grievances along with our right to petition the government will always be more powerful than the right to bear arms. As the 1st Amendment is the insurance we have against ever having a tyrannical government where we would need a declaration of independence and take up arms against OUR Representative Democratic government.

We must use Social Media and the voting booth to place the 1st Amendment in its priority position above all other Bill of Rights Amendments. It is the 1st Amendment that provides us with the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!
