As you doubtless know already, astrology can be simplistic or multi-layered in its calculations, interpretations and applications.
Another way to view characteristics of the Sun Signs is by studying their groupings of four signs or quadruplicities. These quadruplicities each contain a Fire Sign, a Water Sign, an Air Sign and an Earth sign. Each quadruplicity is therefore a snug little club that represents the broader range of astrology and its interpretations of human behavior.

Cardinal signs are often referred to as signs of leadership. These people react swiftly to challenging situations and quickly formulate a rough plan of what must be done to rectify the problem.

Aries: March 21-April 19
‘Lead, follow or get out of the way’ often describes an Aries’ attitude on his/her way to a meeting, a wedding or even a burning building – but usually they won’t relinquish the leadership role to anyone else on the scene. Good at leading, but not at details or follow-up, they’ll generally have at least two plans of action formulated when they get to their destination.

‘How was it done in my parents’ time?’ may be the credo for a Moonchild as they take the reins. Expect them to fall back on the ‘tried and true’ methods of previous generations, as they feel most comfortable with a solution that’s worked before – preferably many times before the current dilemma.

‘But what if the first answer is correct after all?’ Librans lead well but only after much deliberation and examination of every side of the equation or problem. Bystanders may be driven to open frustration while watching a Libra try to get his/her Scales to balance perfectly before acting.
Capricorn: December 22-January 19
‘We can’t just discard all precedents in this matter; we must somehow take the best of the old solutions and meld them with something newer; perhaps within the last generation or so.’ Caution is certainly exercised by every Capricorn. They solve problems with great deliberation, often after much research, and expect their solution to be implemented by those around them.
‘Determined’ is a byword for the Fixed signs, as they have a fixed course of action, a fixed preference towards propriety and suitability and a fixed course set out for their careers, home life and even hobbies.

Leo: July 23-August 22
‘Yes, I’ll lead and prove to you I know what I’m doing.’ A Leo is a natural at guiding, showing or selecting the way forward, even in dire circumstances of fire, flood or famine. Their stubbornness merges with their intuition and forces the fates to bend to their will in surprising ways.
Scorpio: October 23-November 21
‘Nothing is hidden from me for long.’ With a natural talent for ferreting out information, a Scorpio always has a near-uncanny grasp of the details behind any operation, whether it’s a government project, an IPO or simply ordinary espionage. ‘All of humanity should be treated the same.’ Expect an Aquarian to be the mortal enemy of racism, sexism or any other ‘ism’ which projects inferiority upon a group of fellow humans. ‘Let me analyze this and I’ll get back to you with a solution.’ They’ll rummage through their memories and previous experiences, finding two or three ideas that may resolve the boondoggle. They’ll help you implement the best answer. They do expect thanks, but feel they seldom receive it.
Sagittarius: November 22-December 21
‘Let’s go for a walk and see what we can come up with.’ Restless and often unhappy if confined indoors for too many hours, a Sagittarian thinks best on his/her feet, whether running, jogging or climbing a mountain. Action is what spurs their thinking to new solutions for old problems.
Pisces: February 19-March 20
‘This isn’t the right path; we need to try another way.’ Adaptable and resourceful, the Pisces native will swim upstream, then reverse course and glide downstream for a while until the situation either resolves itself or the answer floats up from their subconscious.
