Positivity

There’s not much good news available in today’s world, or so it seems. However, there are scientific studies and plain old common sense to remind us that ‘thinking positive’ yields better results than succumbing to dismal reflections. Let’s find a phrase for each Sun Sign to use when the gloom turns to doom and you need a cheerful note to contemplate or to stir yourself to action.

“The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.”  – Chinese proverb

“The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart – this you will build your life by, this you will become.” – As a Man Thinketh, James Allen, British philosopher, writer, poet

“One can remake one’s entire life through the understanding and application of creative imagination. Through creative imagination it is possible for one to change one’s belief about himself and the world in which he lives, thus changing the out-picturing of that belief.” – Psychogenesis, Jack Addington, scientist/philosopher

Capricorn: December 22-January 19

“The future can be reclaimed by an America that regains its will to succeed. But success can be achieved only by sacrifice and work, by a return to the spirit that made the United States such a colossus of energy and enterprise during WWII.” – Peril and Promise, by John Chancellor, former NBC commentator

Aquarius: January 20-February 18

“Start a huge, foolish project, /like Noah. /It makes absolutely no difference /what people think of you.”  – Rumi, Sufi mystic and poet

“Everything is coming to me easily and effortlessly. I am a radiant being, filled with light and love. My life is blossoming in total perfection. I have everything I need to enjoy my here and now.” – Creative Visualization, Shakti Gawain, personal development pioneer

Many of those quoted wrote from the framework of generations ago, when ‘man’ was an accepted synonym for ‘man and woman’ or ‘humans.’ Don’t overlook the thought because of the archaic form.  – MZ

  1. Well Madame Zombra, You’ve knocked it out of the park again, even if major league baseball can’t seem to. Also, it was nice to be reminded of John Chancellor, from the golden age of broadcast news.

    1. Thank you, Mr. Stark. I must confess it was a surprise to read Mr. Chancellor had written a book which was well-received and well-read at the time. Methinks I may try to find a copy wandering around somewhere. Loved your baseball analogy. – MZ
