You should write a book

Aries: March 21-April 19

Autobiography or memoir? If the Aries is already famous, then an autobiography is in order. But if the Aries wants to highlight one special time in his/her life, a memoir would likely be the choice. Then again, fiction could have a certain appeal – can any Aries resist the chance to be a swashbuckling pirate? Or the first president of Mars (particularly appropriate, since Mars rules Aries).

Taurus: April 20-May 20

A Taurus probably won’t be writing a book unless it’s about a subject in which they feel highly qualified – cooking, gardening, art appreciation (admiration and investment). A schedule for writing and probably hiring an editor would be on the list in order for a Taurus to really dedicate the time and effort for the project. If the book became a bestseller, expect the Taurus to be first astonished and then quite gratified.

Gemini: May 21-June 21

Two authors, in essence, and all those internal squabbles over whose viewpoint is going to be in print … the Twins will likely never get around to writing a full-length novel or even a collection of short stories. There’s just too much to do and enjoy to spend time trapped at a desk and writing. And then there’s the real specter of being bored – the most horrifying scenario in a Gemini’s life. No Nobel Prize for Literature anticipated here, but an audience is definitely appreciated when it gathers at a lively social event, for example.

Cancer: June 22-July 22

A family saga would be most likely to draw a Moonchild to the keyboard. Expect a full genealogy and all titles, knighthoods, elected officials and blue ribbons at the state fair to be mentioned in detail. The fact that other readers who aren’t part of the Moonchild’s family may not be inclined to buy a tome of family history will give pause for thought, but then the Moonchild can cannily decide to give copies away to the family as Christmas gifts.

Leo: July 23-August 22

A tell-all exposè could intrigue a Leo, but then again, Lions really don’t want to hurt someone, and putting the details of a previous love affair in print wouldn’t be the gentlemanly or lady-like thing to do. Unless, of course, the Leo was the one who got dumped by the other party, in which case expect vitriol to replace ink on the pages. A wounded Lion never forgets.

Virgo: August 23-September 22

While most readers would expect a Virgo to write dry, statistics-laden textbooks, that may not be the case. Ruled by Mercury, this sign can have a lurid imagination and create vast quantities of pulp fiction, in the Lester Dent tradition. The continuing saga of Dollface and the super-sleuth Private Eye will be spelled correctly and grammatically conforming to the rule book, however. Lock and load the keyboard.

Libra: September 23-October 22

Should a Libra write a book about business or a lighthearted frothy romance? What about a combination? Maybe a incredibly arrogant and mean CEO falls for the flower girl on the corner – oops, no, that’s been done. Maybe an instructional book on how to amass your first million – or how to seduce a co-worker. There’ll be a ream or two of paper torn up before a Libra finally settles on a topic, edits it and publishes an ebook or print edition.

Scorpio: October 23-November 21

A book dealing with poltergeists and hauntings would suit a Scorpio writer; so would true crime or mysterious disappearances. Getting the details for a true crime would play right into a Scorpio’s ability to wrest the details from either witnesses or public records. And ghosts would have a hard time frightening any Scorpion, as their vivid imaginations can produce bloody axe murders, heinous torture devices and perfect crimes. They’ll have to leave out a few grisly parts, though, or some psychopath will use their creative writing as a template.

Sagittarius: November 22-December 21

Hunting, all animals, archery, forests and preserving them, philosophy, religion and how it needs to change to fit modern times – all of these subjects could interest a Sagittarian. But not if the Centaur has to write it him or herself. This Sun sign would rather have someone else handle the little petty details while they go on safari, set up an animal rescue, learn to shoot like Legolas, stopping the clear-cutting … you get the picture. A good ghostwriter would have permanent employment with a Sag.

Capricorn: December 22-January 19

Financial topics, best banking practices, conservative politics – all of these may be present in any manuscript a Capricorn decides to write. But that may never happen, as the time to write a book could be much better spent in learning day trading without risk, whether bitcoins make a good investment, and should arranged marriages between old banking families continue to be sought? How does one find a matchmaker when the financial disparity may amount to millions of dollars?

Aquarius: January 20-February 18

Here’s the writer who’ll attempt to save an enormous problem in one book; something supremely uncomplicated to the Aquarian mind, like global warming or ending racism. You’ll read a very unusual approach to the problem, but that won’t be anything compared to the completely irregular solutions the Aquarius will propose. Don’t be too quick to dismiss their writing, however, as they may be on to something.

Pisces: February 19-March 20

Expect the unexpected if a Pisces decides to write a book: something spiritual, perhaps, or a personal religious experience. They may take a very long time to write the book, too, as they’ll want to work on the story or information until they feel anyone could understand what they were saying. They’d want to stay out off the limelight, at least until some really good reviews are in, so don’t try to book them with Oprah immediately.

Readers have emailed me, suggesting my weekly explorations of astrology may lead to a book which would be of interest to them. With that in mind, I have approached a small press and have received a tentative ‘go-ahead’ to submit a synopsis and outline of my first astrology book. We shall see what transpires.    – MZ
