Archaeologists recently discovered tiny fragments of ancient ivory with astrological symbols carved on them. The experts date the fragments back to the Babylonians, the people responsible for establishing the roots of astrology, some 2500-3000 years ago.
While I wasn’t practicing my celestial craft quite that long ago, I have observed astrology has enjoyed many resurgences in interest over the years. You may recall it was even popular in the Reagan White House in the 1980s.
So how does your own Sun sign regard astrology? As a parlor game? True predictions? A way of life for the initiated? Read on and see if you agree.
Aries: March 21-April 19
You’re really too busy to bother with some calculations telling you what to do when, and you definitely don’t like being ‘bossed’ anyway. You’ll be incredulous – until your personal planets align just so and a ‘random hit’ urging caution or a fantastic opportunity appears for you, and then you espouse astrology.
Taurus: April 20-May 20
If you can employ astrology in a practical way, you’ll use it. Perhaps, as an avid gardener, you use a planting calendar and suddenly realize by gum, it’s eerily accurate. If that’s true for mere veggies, could there be something to the star pattens for humans? And how best to make it work for you?
Gemini: May 21-June 21
The very idea of anything – algorithms, tea leaves, palm reading – being able to predict your future is a source of amusement for you. You delight in reading your daily horoscope in order to debunk it to your friends and family. However, allow yourself to be talked into having your chart calculated and interpreted by a professional astrologer, and you’ll change both your minds.
Cancer: June 22-July 22
You can become rather emotionally dependent on following a certain column or astrological expert, especially if the emphasis for the predictions or warning signals is on your favorite obsessions of your family, your home and your money. Step away from others’ counsel and learn to cast your own chart. You’ll be glad you did.
Leo: July 23-August 22
An astrological reading is one of your favorite little indulgences, especially since it revolves almost totally around you and your influence in your world. However, give the other people in your relationships a little more breathing room and don’t be so dependent upon them to be your ecstatic audience.
Virgo: August 23-September 22
The only person who can convince you astrology ‘works’ is yourself. Get yourself some good textbooks and explore the subject thoroughly, even minutely, before you pronounce judgment. Once convinced, your new hobby could make relationships go much more smoothly for you.
Libra: September 23-October 22
When will you enter a business partnership? When will you find true love? Any system that can perhaps offer you some answers to the two driving questions of your life will be used frequently by you. And the more you use astrology, the better your own intuition becomes – so use the stars as guideposts until you can navigate your own course.
Scorpio: October 23-November 21
If someone becomes proficient enough to tell you some of your closely-guarded secrets through the use of astrology, that will win your respect. And you may in turn study the craft until you feel you know even more about what ‘makes people tick’ than you did previously, which is a great advantage for your secretive lifestyle.
Sagittarius: November 22-December 21
You read your daily horoscope for a laugh and cheerfully go on your way, disregarding calls for caution or prudence. But when that ladder you walked under tips over and you’re wrapped in coils of wallpaper, you may decide there might be something to this study after all. And employing astrology to meet more compatible people is a good use of it. Can’t be worse than some of your ‘friends’ at setting you up with a blind date.
Capricorn: December 22-January 19
Can you make money off of astrology? Yes, if you’re willing to put in the hours to study and learn the celestial indicators of change for the stock market. You’ll also be interested in hedging your bet by finding out whether Jupiter is in a benign or malevolent position for your favorite corporation before purchasing more stock.
Aquarius: January 20-February 18
You’ve known all along that astrology can be a science and an art, especially as the world becomes more attuned to the interrelationships of all things – and not based on computers. Your sign has a natural affinity for all things esoteric. Read, study, enjoy – you may find an entirely new career awaits you among the star.
Pisces: February 19-March 20
Whatever can help you achieve the next level in your meditation practices or show you a deeper meaning to a troublesome area of your life is definitely of interest to you. Your sign is apt to drift if you don’t have a definite course laid out for you, and perhaps astrology can provide more stability for your life.
