Paint in numbers?

What, 37 pieces of art done this month? In numbers/quantity instead of ‘by the numbers’ ? Bad scene. Wouldn’t do it, unless it’s a private challenge, like “I’ll paint 365 miniatures this year and publish them in an ebook as inspiration for other artists and illustrators.” But otherwise, too heavy. Not my trip.

What I really want to do this year is to get my studio cleaned up and cleared out – and complete the leftover projects that are sitting on the floor and hermiting in drawers instead of hanging on a wall. Preferably a wall in someone else’s home or office. Or hotel room; I’m never going to disparage a fellow creative from licensing their work for commercial use – all of us have to eat and keep a roof over our heads.

So I’m finishing that old canvas lurking in a corner, or scraping it off and painting something else. Even better, I’ll let mixed media loose and really get the vibes going. I’ll be posting along, with my scrambled ‘style’ of showing what this old hippie’s done now, or sharing a great quote from an equally great artist or even patching the old threads.

So here’s a great thought from Elizabeth Gilbert: “… clear out whatever obstacles are preventing you from living your most creative life… . You can live a long life, making and doing really cool things the entire time.” Make it happen, hipsters. – A.R. Tist
