Two Poems: Salad Lady, That COVID Sunday in San Clemente

 SALAD LADY

They shut down the fish and chips.
They shut down the pie place.
They’re going to have to start doing something here.

 On Thanksgiving I’m being messaged
 By an unclaimed frozen turkey
 In a church basement freezer.

And the next day I get a text,
 And it says “Salad Lady.”
 And I’m like Salad Lady?
THAT COVID SUNDAY IN SAN CLEMENTE

 Humans dare not touch
But my sister and the stranger’s dog
 Hugged and kissed
 Like long lost friends.
