Brushes

Ever stop to think about what a complicated language English really is? I mean, like, American English has a lot of slang, but at least on this side of the pond, we generally understand each other. We groove on it, bro.

For example, take the word ‘brushes’ – you give someone the brush-off

have a close brush with disaster

brush off your threads, your hair, your cat/dog/hamster/furniture

use a brush to really clean that floor

brush your teeth

need to brush up old skills

the desert brush can hide cactus

a clothes brush, paint brush, boot brush, scrub brush, nail brush, vegetable brush, bottle brush … now you grok why I stick to art. I’m not a poet. – A.R. Tist
